Meet the Staff
JoanneFront Desk A little about me… I am a lifelong resident of the Conneautville area. My husband Terry and I have 3 adult sons. Trevor and his wife, Brenda, and their children, Jose, Aleysha, Carlos, and Johanna, reside in Syracuse, New York. Trace and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Conneaut Lake. Josh resides in Erie. My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family, especially my grandchildren. I am a member of the Conneautville Baptist Church and enjoy outreach activities with my church family. I am also involved with Relay for Life Meadville – McM Grand Team. I love orthodontics because… Working in the orthodontic field for 14 years has introduced me to so many people; patients, parents and coworkers. It is very rewarding to see the transformation of smiles and confidence. I feel blessed to share in the lives of all of these people and their families. At Dr. Smith’s Office I am… The front desk receptionist. You will find me at the front desk. I joined the practice in May 1994. I feel very fortunate to work with Dr. Smith in this warm and caring environment. When you come to see me I will help you check in, answer the phone, and schedule appointments. At other times I will work with insurance or any financial issues.  Sandy Orthodontic Assistant & Treatment Coordinator A little about me… I was born and raised in the Cambridge Springs area. I am happily married and have two children. My husband is Greg and our children are Garrett and Courtney. I enjoy cooking, reading and shopping. I started in the orthodontic field in 1977. I have been with Dr. Smith since January of 2001. I love Orthodontics because… I have always loved working with people. Putting children at ease when they come into our office is important to me. I want their experience with us to be fun, since they will be coming to us for a few years. I let the younger patients know that I will treat them as though they were my children. At Dr. Smith’s office… I am one of Dr. Smith’s assistants. Also, I am the treatment coordinator. When you come in for your consult, I am responsible for your records viewed by you and Dr. Smith. Your records would be the x-rays, models and photos that we previously performed on you. We at Dr. Smith’s office want your treatment visits with us to be an enjoyable experience. The end result is a BEAUTIFUL SMILE that will last a lifetime! 
NevaSterilization A little about me… I'm Doug's mother. I started working with Doug the day he opened his practice in July of 1993. I love spending time with my family. I enjoy being outside and taking long walks. I love Elvis the King. I love Orthodontics because… I enjoy working with people, it keeps me young. I also enjoy working with the girls at the office; they keep me out of trouble. At Dr. Smith’s office… "The office Momma" or "The sterilization lady." I bring popcorn and treats every week to keep the staff happy. 
RitaOrthodontic Assistant A little about me… I live in Conneautville with my husband, Doug. We have 2 children, Stacy and Brett. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, taking walks in the woods, camping and playing games. I love Orthodontics because… I love my job. It's great to meet new people. In orthodontics you have a chance to build great relationships with patients. I love the confidence that people gain from having their teeth straightened. At Dr. Smith’s office… One of Dr. Smith's assistants and I also help with the front desk. I started working at Dr. Smith's office the day he opened his practice in 1993. 
Deb B.Orthodontic Assistant and Lab Technician A little about me… I was born in the Meadville/Saegertown area. I enjoy traveling with my family, staying at our Lake Erie cottage, horseback riding, and cooking. I began working in the Orthodontic field in 1978. I began working for Dr. Smith in 1996. I love Orthodontics because… I love all aspects of orthodontics, but my favorite part is debonding. I really enjoy seeing the patient’s face when they look in the mirror for the first time and smile. I enjoy working with the public and getting to know people and making them happy. At Dr. Smith’s office… I am a chairside assistant for Dr. Smith. I also take care of all the lab work. I trim models, pour models and make all the appliances. I enjoy the variety of being in the lab and going to the operatory for chair side. I try to make the patient feel as comfortable as possible. We want this to be an enjoyable and friendly experience. 
MelaineOrthodontic Assistant and Marketing Director A little about me… I was born and raised in the Greenville area, and now reside in Conneaut. I attended Great Lakes Institute for dental assisting and have worked in the dental field for 7 years. I have been an Orthodontic Assistant with Dr. Smith for 3 years. I am happily married to my husband Jon, and we have 2 beautiful children, Alexis and Brady. (and a baby boy on the way!) My children are my hobby; however, I do enjoy decorating and scrapbooking. I love orthodontics because… I have always enjoyed working with the public. Having two children myself allows me to understand the needs of our young patients. I love meeting everyone and establishing a relationship with all of the different people. I most enjoy seeing how braces impact and change the lives of so many children in such a positive way. At Dr. Smith’s office… I am “the girl that sings to everyone”!! You will mostly see me working chairside with Dr. Doug, but at other times you may find me in the lab. I’m also in charge of bulletin boards, and most office decorating.  HeatherOrthodontic Assistant A little about me… I grew up and still live in Conneaut Lake with my father and younger sister. I started working with Dr. Smith in August of 2007 after completing a dental assisting program at Great Lakes Institute of Technology. I love orthodontics because… I had a great experience when I had braces at Dr. Smith’s office. I became more confident about myself and want to help others experience that feeling. At Dr. Smith’s office… I am one of Dr. Smith’s assistants. My main duties are clinical assisting, sterilization, new patient x-rays, photographs, and study models. I have learned so much about orthodontics and I am glad I have been given the opportunity to work for Dr. Smith.  Deb S.Office Manager A little about me… I was born and raised in the Conneautville area. I now live in Saegertown with Doug and our two children, Zack and Derek. We also live with a very spoiled dog named Corky. I graduated from Clarion University in 1984 with a degree in Business Administration. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, skiing, and yoga. I am very involved with Relay for Life Meadville and am currently the chairperson of the event. I love orthodontics because… I can see the positive impact a beautiful smile has made on so many of our patient’s lives. It has also been great to build relationships with our patients and their families. At Dr. Smith’s office… I am the behind-the-scene person. You will see me filling in for Joanne if she is off. I order supplies, pay the bills, and try to make the office environment enjoyable for our patients and staff. |
